“I can safely say that without MYL I wouldn’t be doing what I’m currently doing. They gave me the confidence to think that pursuing musical theatre was viable career choice. I used to be working Monday to Friday as a butcher, but cut to 3 years after leaving MYL and I’m currently in my second year starring as Deuteronomy in the international tour of CATS the musical. I’ve seen parts of the world I’d never have gotten to see. A huge part of that is down to MYL. If you’re under 22 then what are you waiting for?!”
“I can safely say that joining MYL was one of the best choices I have ever made. I was desperate to find a company where I could work on my confidence, and skills as a performer - and I have gained that and so much more. It is rare to find a performing arts company that has such a strong emphasis on inclusion and participation, and cliché as it sounds, it is the best part of my week! Having support at MYL has helped me so much in the run up to my drama school auditions, and now having secured a place on a BA course in Musical Theatre, I am so grateful for everything the directors at MYL have done for every single one of us - it's something I'll never forget.”
"MYL is a family that nurtures and builds you as a person. Sounds cheesy but it's true.
As a young person struggling with mental health issues, MYL provided me with a place free of judgment, where I am completely accepted and loved for who I am. I was able to grow and improve not just as a performer, but also as a person due to the amazing support and endless hard work of the directors. Tom and Katie don't just help you to become more comfortable on stage, they help you handle the obstacles that arise in life.
I've never been a very confident person (loud I am, confident I am not), but the support and love that I have received at MYL has really changed me as a person; from a teenager who's worst fear was opening up, to a young adult who is able to talk about my problems.
Without MYL I wouldn't be where I am today, and for that I am incredibly and endlessly grateful. It really is a unique and special place, that deserves to live on and share everything it has to offer."

“Musical Youth London was definitely the most important part of my journey into the world of theatre. The support, guidance and opportunities I received are the reason I am currently studying at drama school. No artist could wish for a more wonderful environment in which to develop.”

Before joining MYL I was struggling to find my feet. My confidence and self esteem was knocked back to say the least. A few years later, I have never felt more confident, not only as a performer, but as a person. The support from Tom and Katie and the opportunities the company has given me has led me to train in an MA in Musical Theatre at The Royal Academy of Music.
MYL was the one thing I looked forward to every weekend; it’s a refuge for any theatre junkie. It is a safe place where you can take risks and learn tonnes about your craft with talented, skilled and caring staff. After leaving MYL I went on to train at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and am now in the cast of Tina the Musical in the West End.
