Getting into the swing of it - Ally
This week we were really starting to get into the swing of our next show, Little Shop of Horrors. We started off with a very intense warm-up, not our usual, but we were all definitely more awake (and more smelly!) by the end of it. It's so lovely to have Tom, Sam and Dan all here helping, since it's been a long time since we've been able to enjoy the company of all three of them. They help to really bring out MYL's true colours (most of which are good!). We also celebrated the achievements of some of our members, getting into various drama schools and academies. It's so inspiring to hear the success stories, knowing that your friends might one day be West End stars.
Next in rehearsal, we went straight into a vocal warm-up and ran through the last song we were working on for the show. Even though we're just starting out, it's already so exciting to see the show begin to form. The song isn't the easiest in the world, but through hard work and practice, we're able to work together well. That's one thing I really love about MYL - there is a real sense of teamwork and friendship, as cheesy as that sounds. The fact that we all get on so well really does reflect in what we do on stage!
Finally, we finished off with a moving speech from Tom and Sam, reminding us that we should be giving our all on stage. Sam chipped in that it looks even better for the audience, before realising that she was being filmed, and going full Welsh.
Looking forward to next week, can't wait to see where we'll go next!
